Granting the gift of choice

Many people are unaware of the hundreds of children who enter foster care in our city with only the clothes on their backs. After years of hearing stories about trash bags of dirty clothes and the lack of resources available for foster children, we wanted to be part of the solution.
The PACK Boutique opened in Spring 2020 and offers a personalized shopping experience for local children in foster care. Once enrolled in the program, children visit every three months to “shop” for new clothes, shoes, toys, and accessories.
The love and care that goes into the PACK Boutique experience is indisputable- from the height ruler filled with names to the revolving holiday decor to the personalized letter each child eagerly pulls from the mailbox. These unique touches ensure that the children feel loved and valued when they walk inside. Financial contributions, as well as new clothes, shoes, and toys for children of all ages, are needed to maintain and expand this program.

According to the most recent statistics available, about 400 children experience foster care annually, and 300 children are in foster care at any point in Chatham County.  Any child who requires foster care is at a significantly higher risk than a typical child of experiencing poorer physical and emotional health, becoming pregnant as a teen, dropping out of school, and experiencing chronic homelessness or poverty.
Our goal is to serve the foster children and the foster parents. The PACK Boutique is one of our two programs serving foster care children. Every three months, a foster child selects his or her own new clothing, socks, pajamas, school supplies, toiletries, toys, and books. The experience is enhanced by a personal shopper who helps each child feel loved and cared for. The boutique was visited about 400 times in 2023.
Our impact is only possible with generous funding and dedicated volunteers from our community.
